I have a dual core w/ 2 gb of ddr3 and a OLD 8800gt and I can run ANY brand new game on high settings.

Don't listen to him! D:

There is the price point porn, 300 for a dual core desktop or hmm, let me look, about 550 for a dual core laptop with more than 2gb or ram and a decent video chip.

Idk about you but I can use an extra 250 bucks any day.

p.s. I understand sarcasm, but I'm afraid he doesn't....

so what you got is pretty close to this

Manufacturer: HP-Pavilion
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2220 @ 2.40GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
Memory: 3070MB RAM
Hard Drive: 307 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT
Monitor: HP w2007 Wide LCD Monitor
Sound Card: Headset Earphone (3- Logitech USB Headset)
Speakers/Headphones:
Keyboard: USB Root Hub
Mouse: USB Root Hub razer copperhead
Mouse Surface:
Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002) Service

now at the end of the week I will get that 1000 dollar system so I can play better games at higher fps

Slightly faster processor, less ram, faster ram, less hard drive space, better vid card, and win 7

lol nice first post silent but yah i agree, and if you dont know what to get or how to get it go to a shop around you and tell them what you want.

go for something similar to

i5 750 or even 650
4 GB DDR3
ATI 4650
320GB HD

if youre looking for something fairly decent for a low price range

hey silent!
<-core lol

meh, i prefer amd, so much cheaper with near the same performance. nothing amd can touch an i7 for overclocking right now... but all i know is.. price makes a big difference to me! D:

i7 @ 3.33 = nearly a thousand dollars http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115212

phenom x4 black edition @ 3.4 ghz = 200 dollars http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727

gg?

p.s. what use do you have for overclocking a ONE THOUSAND DOLLAR PROCESSOR? Just moronic.

Three-Six-N9ne

i dont know why, i never liked amd altho i havent used one in a while. i really didnt know the price difference was so huge :o

oh, and have you looked at the cons of the phenom II?

Cons: Should come with a AMD warning on the side of the box that says " : AMD requires users coming from Intel to take out thier tampons. You will no longer need to wear them. You've been promoted to a man. "

comprichard

this is my first intel rig "other than a laptop" and right now intel is out preforming amd
while ati is now out preforming nvidia as far as that man shit your joke is pretty sensless since I for one at least know where amd got its tech which i bet you have to google.
see i was using the amd 5x86 the amd k5 k6 k62 then athalon b4 most ppl in these forums could read.

lets also keep in mind the x58 chip set will be able to run the new 6 cores good luck to current phenom supported board users when that happens

Who the fuck needs 6 cores?! ... really. I honestly have trouble getting my dual core to be under 100% load during reasonable use.

And honestly, is the benefit of an i7 vs phenom x4 worth EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS? No. I don't care whatever you say, it is not worth 800 dollars...

Also this proves how bullshit intel is being, selling what is going to be obviously obsolete technology in the i7 when the 6 cores are right around the corner.

Three-Six-N9ne

6 cores? i didnt think they were going to go beyond the 4 cores on account a the hyperthreading?

comprichard

Monitor:
Sound Card: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)

Just so you know, a 2.8 GHz cpu is not necessary faster than a 2.4 GHz cpu. It depends on many things.
